Beating Summer Heat

July 3, 2013

The worst times for Joseph’s eczema have been in the winter when its dry, and in the summer when it’s hot. Thankfully, this latest heat wave hasn’t triggered any flareups, though I am keeping an eye on things. We don’t have A/C, so our house has been getting above 80 degrees during the day. Joseph also refuses to go without pants (though shorts are acceptable) or a shirt (unless he’s playing in water).

Besides trying to keep things cool, I think the best I can do for him is to bathe him frequently, to get rid of the irritating sweat. This spring, I didn’t bathe him more than twice a week, usually, so I want to step that up now.

How do you deal with eczema in the summer?
